Just What Are We Up To?
For those of you who have not heard, we have created a fellowship in Rush City, MN. Our focus is to nurture the flock in which God bestows to us (1 Peter 5:2-4) by “preaching the Word” (2 Tim. 4:2) and carrying out the work of the church. After a time of equipping, we hope to have monthly outreaches as well as community services.
I, Karl, recently graduated from Northwestern College in Roseville, MN with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies and am excited to be able to use this education for His glory and name’s sake.
River Valley Christian Church (RVCC), our “parent” church, is a non-denominational fellowship located in Lake Elmo, MN. This is the very church where I surrendered my life to Christ, was baptized, and where Kathy and I were married.
The Berean Community
In Acts 17:11, Luke writes that the Bereans examined the Scriptures day in and day out. Like the Bereans, we will be in the Word continually. John, in his Gospel, writes that “the Word became flesh and dwelt amount them” (John 1:1) and Paul says that we are to be imitators of Christ (1 Cor. 11:1). Therefore, if Jesus Christ is the Word, we have to be studying the Word of God in order to become imitators of Christ. As a result of this, the transformation that Paul commands in Romans 12:2 will undoubtedly occur “...be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
A Missional Church
What does it mean to be a missional church? To be missional means to serve together in union for the purposes which we set out to do. Those purposes include supporting other Christian organizations both financially and voluntarily; which then also serves as a “practicing of faith” and encourages the body with respect to being the hands and feet of Christ.
The focus of building a community fellowship is to reach our Jerusalem (Rush City), Judea and Samaria (Chisago/Isanti/Pine Counties) and the rest of the earth by proclaiming life in its fullness both now and eternally through faith in Jesus Christ.
Kathy and I press upon you for your earnest prayers that we may be able to 1) be workmen approved by God 2) handle the word of truth correctly and 3) be able to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace (2 Tim. 2:15-26)-all the while remaining in the shadow and protection of the Almighty.
We thank you in advance from the fullness of our hearts for your continued thoughts and prayers.
